This is The Way

The obvious benefits to daily physical fitness are strength, energy, cardiovascular fitness, and feelings of progress and accomplishment. Further exploration in this helps us realize that even though these are very important there are other benefits that physical fitness gives us that allow these benefits to happen.

Fitness training can benefit every aspect of our lives in that it teaches us commitment, goal setting, overcoming difficulty, accomplishing things that we never thought possible, and generally doing something that makes us motivated and motivating to be with.

We’re all responsible for taking care of the energy that we generate and radiate to the world around us. A healthy body stimulates a healthy mind and all of the exciting possibilities that come with it.

Over time we all deal with challenges and physical frustrations. Lack of activity, illness, weight issues, and lack of motivation to name a few. Even though we might encounter these temporary setbacks we owe it to ourselves to get back on track and refuel the energy and the excitement.

If you are a bit stuck and need to refuel then have a peek at my website and see how I can help you.

Here it is:

There are many roads that lead to success and one of the time tested ones is for you to write down your goals and visit them as often as possible.

However, it’s not that simple as there is much more to it than that. You need to get clear on what your ultimate goals are and then take steps after you are clear on them to make them happen.

The first and most obvious one is to get moving in the direction of what you want the most. Remember, it’s many tentative small steps that will eventually lead you to success.

The mistake that many make is to expect too much too fast and then become impatient and eventually give up.

Once the goal is clear then it’s important to add some emotion from past successes.

I’m sure that you have experienced major success at some point in your life and it’s important to hang on to how good that felt and then bring that good feeling to your next goal.

Give yourself a chance to allow the feeling and emotion of a past success to influence the likelihood of success with your next goal.

As you start to formulate your goal or goals picture yourself with the goal already accomplished. Remember, your brain thinks in pictures. The clearer you make that picture the more likely it is to happen.

Get a clear picture in your mind of how you will look and feel. Remember to bring passion and emotion to it so that it keeps you fired up and moving on even through the times when it may be difficult to achieve.

Til next time.

I expect that you, like me have been watching the debates on government health care from Prime Minister Rudd in Autralia and President Obama in the US. It got me and I suspect a lot of other people wondering how much health care would be needed if we voted the following in:

1. Everybody got up and did some exercise every day – even if it’s 10 – 20 minutes.

2. Compulsary exercise in schools and businesses.

3. Flexibility/stretching and deep breathing exercises were taught to everyone.

4. Banish fluoride from drinking water.

5. Flu jabs banned as they contain toxic mercury and other harmful chemicals.

6. Stop cancer causing pesticides and herbicides being used on fruits and vegetables.

7. Genetically modified crops were banned.

8. MSG and other corn derivatives banned.

9. All meat and dairy produce to be grass-fed and hormone free.

I believe that by implimenting the above we could save many millions or even billions of dollars on future health care costs – what do you think?

I’m sure that there is a lot more to add to this plan…

But, and lets’ be very accurate on this, at the end of the day it is up to YOU to make sure that you are fit and healthy – nobody else can make that decision for you – it’s down to YOU!

If you need help, like the majority of people do then let me help you…

Just have a look at my health and fitness products on my website here:

Goal Setting

There are many avenues that you can take that will lead to success. In my view one of the most proven ones is to take your time and write down your achievable goals and then revist them again and again.

You need to be clear on what you want to achieve and this is a good first step, howver you then need to make the decesion to implement and and make your goals happen.

The first and most obvious thing for you to do is to get going in the direction of the thing that you want the most.

The mistake that many people make is to expect too much too soon and then become impatient and eventually give up.

Once the goal is clear then it’s important for you to visualise high emotion from your past successes to make this work for you.

Everyone has experienced success at some point throughout their lives. It’s important to feel how good that felt and then bring that good feeling to your next goal.

Give yourself a chance to allow the feeling and emotion of a past success to influence the likelihood of success with your next goal.

As you start this picture yourself with the goal already accomplished. Remember, your brain thinks in pictures. The clearer you make that picture the more likely it is to happen.

If your goal is in the fitness realm than get a clear picture in your mind of how that will look and feel. Remember to bring passion and emotion to it so that it keeps you fired up and moving on when things may not be happening as fast as you want to

I hope this helps you

All the best

Healthy Foods or Not?

I called in at the food store yesterday and I was not impressed with all of the deceptive labels on the containers and packaging claiming all sorts of things that are supposedly “healthy”, but definately are not!

One of the things that really annoyed me was many examples of healthy foods in their natural state, but I also noticed copies of these foods claiming that they were healthier than the original…

Yet in reality, all of these copies were definately MUCH worse for you than the original… and they still have the audacity to claim that their overly processed “junk filled” versions are better.

This is highly deceptive and is marketing at it’s worst!

Let me give you an example – Product states that it is “Better than peanut butter”

This product is ludicrous! I can’t believe anyone would ever believe that this junk is better for them than natural peanut butter.

First of all, if you buy a good simple peanut butter (organic is best), it is usually nothing but 2 ingredients… peanuts and salt. And they don’t add much salt so it’s not high in sodium.

However, this counterfeit peanut butter which stated that it was “better than peanut butter” (trying to seem healthier than peanut butter based on it’s label claims) had a list of junk in it you wouldn’t believe. First of all, they strip all of the healthy fats out of the peanuts so that it is a “low fat” product. Ok, now you’ve just taken away one of the healthiest parts of the product…the appetite satisfying healthy fats that you need to control cravings and manage more stable blood sugar levels.

To make things worse, the healthy fats were replaced with 2 different types of sugary syrups as well as additional dehydrated cane juice (aka SUGAR), in addition to added refined starches.

This product has taken something as simple and natural as peanut butter, and turned it into what should really be called some sort of processed confectionary. Yet, the makers claim that it’s healthier than peanut butter. And somehow or other, they get away with deceiving people like this.

Don’t be fooled!

Another example: Another product states that it is “better than eggs”.

This product contains egg whites with a load of added chemical colourings, flavourings, and other rubbish, including fake added vitamins.

Once again, this product has ruined all the healthy and good things that eggs contain and they have done this by removing the healthiest part of any egg… the YOLKS! You see, the yolks ARE the healthiest part of an egg. Anybody that tells you different doesn’t understand much about true nutrition. The important thing to look for in quality whole eggs are cage-free and organic

Anyway, I hope this newsletter has helped you by me highlighting the dangers of not reading food labels and for you to be on the alert and not taken in by these “copy foods”.

Til next time – eat, train and stay healthy.

All the best.

Healthy Eating Tricks

I am asked time and again how I maintain so much discipline to always eat healthy and how I rarely ever cheat.

Well, first of all, I don’t always eat good food but if I do cheat, it’s only a couple times a month and usually when I eat out. I make sure that I never keep any junk food whatsoever in the house. And even when I do “cheat”… I steer clear of chips soft drink, donuts chocolate and cakes.

It can be hard when we’re all bombarded with junk food on a daily basis.

You see discipline helps but I have conditioned the thoughts in my head that makes the thought of eating deep fried food, sweets, donuts, cakes, soft drinks totally disgusting – they do not appeal to me at all.

In fact, it even goes a step beyond junk food just not appealing to me…

My mindset is that these junk foods actually appear horrific to me and I have no desire to eat them at all. I actually crave healthy foods instead.

So why do some people see junk foods and not crave them at all (and even view them as disgusting), while others see junk foods and cannot resist the temptation?

That’s a tough call…and when it comes to how our minds work, things can get complicated.

For me personally, I can say that I think the reason why junk food is so revolting to me is that I’ve spent so many years reading about all of the negative effects that these foods have on your body… and digging into the actual science and the negative cellular reactions that they cause within your body.

Due to the fact that I’ve read in such depth about what these foods do to your body, I have ingrained in my head over the years that these foods are pure evil and therefore, I have no desire to eat them.

In fact, my dislike of junk foods is so deeply rooted at this point in my life, even the smell of deep fried chips or donuts sometimes can make me feel sick, whereas the smell of a healthy meal makes me feel energized.

This is interesting indeed. I’m not a brain-science expert, so I can’t explain exactly how to adopt this type of mindset. All I can say is… keep continually educating yourself on nutrition and how different types of foods are processed and react in your body.

Hopefully, by learning exactly what is going wrong in your body when you consume trans fats or excess processed sugars, perhaps that will help you to view junk foods in such a negative way that you no longer crave them at all.

Good luck!

Til next time.

———

Wisdom – From The Manual

“If the enemy is in range, so are you.”

– Infantry Journal

——————-

“It is generally inadvisable to eject directly over the area you just

bombed.”

– U.S. Air Force Manual

——————-

“Whoever said the pen is mightier than the sword obviously never encountered automatic weapons.”

–General MacArthur

——————-

“You, you, and you …. Panic. The rest of you, come with me.”

– U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt.

“Tracers work both ways.”

– U.S. Army Ordnance

——————-

“Five second fuses only last three seconds.”

- Infantry Journal

“Any ship can be a minesweeper….Once.”

——————-

“Never tell the Platoon Sergeant you have nothing to do.”

– Unknown Marine Recruit

Clean it, if it’s Dirty.

Oil it, if it Squeaks.

But: Don’t Screw with it if it Works!

–USAF Electronic Technician

——————-

“If you see a bomb technician running, keep up with him.”

– USAF Ammo Troop

“If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it’s probably a helicopter — however, it’s probably unsafe in any case”

–USAF Pilot

——————-

“When one engine fails on a twin-engine airplane, you always have enough power left to get you to the scene of the crash.”

– USAF Pilot

——————-

“What is the similarity between air traffic controllers and pilots?

If a pilot screws up, the pilot dies;

If ATC screws up, …. The pilot dies.”

–USAF Pilot

——————-

“Airspeed, altitude and brains. Two out of three are needed to successfully complete the flight.”

——————-

“Mankind has a perfect record in aviation.

We never left one up there!”

——————-

“Flying the airplane is more important than radioing your plight to a person on the ground who is incapable of understanding or doing anything about it.”

Think Big in 2010

This morning When I woke up I said my thanks for all that I’m given and started to work on creating my day. I’m very fortunate in that I’ve planned my life so that I can create things all day long. I work on planning and creating for my Martial Arts and my Fighting Fit business.

I always make time to do my training every day and recently I have been going swimming in the sea at Main Beach here in Noosa, Queensland, Australia. The weather is lovely here especially as it is Summer now. I look forward to each day.

I find it very useful to go into each day with an attitude of feeling that there is nothing that I can not accomplish. I find it helpful to work on picturing the things in my mind that I want to create. It’s a fact that we think in pictures so why not take control over the pictures that go into our heads..

It’s sad to think that many people never picture the life that they want in their minds. It’s sad to think that some people feel that they have no control over their circumstances. What a feeling of desperation it must be to going through life and feel no control over the outcome of one’s life.

Sometimes after setbacks our thinking can get off track. After a knee op in 2002 I had a time where I felt down and out of control. I didn’t know if I would be healthy and be able to keep in kicking action and enjoy the active lifestyle that I was so used to.

After a short time I got my head straight and made it a point to get rid of all of the What Ifs and other thoughts that can take control of our minds. We need to chuck them out quickly.

Since that time I’ve been as fit as a flea and my training couldn’t be better. Even at the age of 54 I do not get aches and pains from my hard training and fkexibility routine which I show in my Fighting Fit books and dvd’s and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’m pleased that I’m also showing a growing number of adults worldwide the benefits of my Fighting Fit Training programs.

You may or may not be able to get to train with me on a one to one, but if you can’t get yourself the next best thing and get my training books via my website . So get started in training and get your heart pumping and get your mind charged up.

It’s the start of 2010 tonight so go for it and thanks for supporting me during 2009 – I really appreciate it!

More to come…

All the best to you and your families.

I’ve spent over 30 years in the army, martial arts, self defense and fitness industry and I’m pretty sure that I’ve heard it all.

I’m talking about reasons people give for not starting a program or not getting the results that they wanted.

Some of the reasons that I have heard have included:

I don’t have the time

It’s too hard

I’m just too old

I’m bored with the training

These are only a few of the reasons that I’ve heard as I watch people sell themselves short of achieving their fitness and lifestyle goals.

To be honest these reasons are nothing but a load of BS.

Take for example the 64 year old grandmother who came to my class with a walker and had to deal with her knee replacement surgeries and with numerous other physical ailments. Talk about dedicated and unwilling to take no for an answer. I must tell you that I wondered about whether or not she could ever hope to make it through my training.

She was a great example of not giving up and being willing to work through pain and discomfort as long as the goal is big enough. In her case, it was. She managed to overcome many of her ailments and because of her hard work was able to experience a better quality of life. I am really pleased about her dedication and single mindedness.

I’ve put together a few pointers that will help you to enjoy and continue on any training program that you have or might start

Remember, you’re there for you. There is no need to compare yourself to others. It’s a sure way to lose sight of the prize. Look hard enough and you can always find someone who can do it better then you.

Go at your own speed. You know what you are capable of. Realize that you can only do what you can but always seek to improve in some way.

Don’t stay frustrated too long. All of us experience frustration in our workouts. Do your best to not stay in that state for too long. You can always find something that you can do to make you feel that you are making progress. Achieving success in your workouts is as much mental as physical.

Keep learning and ask questions. There’s lots to learn. Learning how to do the old stuff better and learning new things gives you the edge that you need to keep on track

Keep on keeping on. Sitting around and doing nothing or overanalyzing what you are doing can only lead to self doubt and unanswered questions. Movement creates an energy and excitement.

Decide what you want to do and get going.

All the best.
